The Learner is provided with User Name and Password to the GEM Online Campus, which enables access to the interactive Online Screen Guide; the Learner Guide (pdf); the Assessment Guide; and the Quick Reference Guide.
Study via face to face intensives; supported by Learner Guide, Assessment Guide; Online Seminars.
Study in a face to face classroom environment; supported by our Facilitator, Learner Guide, Assessment Guide; Practical Activities and Class Discussion. Partial completion of Assessment Guides can be achieved in class time with the balance of Assessments completed in your own time.
Nominal minimum hours of study plus individual research and on the job application is 1,200 - 2,400 hours (normally over a period of 12-24 months); OR approximately 10 hours research and study per week (face-to-face/online) for 12 months from commencement. During the balance of the time, learners will be engaged in work-based/simulated work-based (portfolio building) activities, assessments.
The Diploma of Leadership and Management is designed for people who wish to further their qualifications.
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.
Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.
They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.
This course is intended to build and enhance your leadership and management skills, provide you with industry-related knowledge and allow you to practice your skills in a holistic learning environment. This qualification may apply to people who are working in a business environment or those who aspire to entrepreneurship, such as Manager, Business Owner.
The Diploma of Leadership and Management requires the completion of twelve (12) units, including four (4) core units and eight (8) electives.
4 Core Units:BSBLDR502 Lead and manage effective workplace relationships
- at least 4 units must be Group A in the Packaging Rules
- Up to 4 additional units from Group A or Group B in the Packaging Rules
- If not listed in the Packaging Rules, up to 2 electives may be from Diploma or above in the Business Services Training Package
- If not listed below, 1 elective unit may be from any other currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at Diploma level.
Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Articulation Pathways from the Qualification
On completion of this course, you could consider higher qualifications in this Training Package, the Training Package area of your vocational competence, or in the higher education sector. For instance, you may specialise in the Graduate Certificate in Management (Learning) (BSB80515), or Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) (BSB80615) or Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership (BSB80215).
Each applicant will be interviewed to ensure suitability of the program for the individual and his/her current position and/or career path.
Gaining University Entrance
A Certificate IV or Diploma may gain 6-12 months advanced standing in a university degree. Some Advanced Diplomas may be eligible for even more credit.
